I Like Joe Scarborough.
I just watched Real Time with Bill Maher, and Joe Scarborough was one of the guests on the panel. The crowd and leftists on the panel assumed that he was your typical right wing talking head. So basically they didn't listen to anything he said and argued with him over things that he was actually agreeing with them on. Scarborough doesn't hold his opinions up to a litmus test to see if they pass a predetermined set of ideals. One particular exchange was interesting when Maher had the writer of Blackwater on. The author was taking about whether things were better under Bremer and the new Iraqi government or under Sadam. Of course, the author said they were better under Sadam. Joe commented saying Bremmer was stupid and that's why things are the way they are today. The author immediately went into a tirade about how Scarborough was wrong. It took Joe a good minute to let Scahill know that he was actually agreeing with him. This is what bothers me about people involved in political discourse in the media. They come to these shows with preconceived notions of what their political opponents will say and how they think. No one really listens to each other. They just spit out their opinions and talking points with such arrogance and pretentiousness. They don't stop to think that maybe what this other person is saying can teach them something. Further, when Scarborough made the mistake of saying progress in Iraq might of occurred in the last six months, a shit storm ensued. I am against the war and have been since the drum beat began, but the way toward solving this fuck up is not to tear down and deny everything that implies something good is happening in Iraq. It proves to me even more that the Left is just as bad as the Right. If you can give yourself a political label then you can never really be objective (which is important when it comes to facts). Blah blah blah blah. Right.....
